Learn to identify the nature of conflict and reasons why conflict occurs in the classroom. We will give examples of the following sources of conflict; lack of clarity, limited resources, conflicts of interests/beliefs, and power struggles. We will discuss how understanding ourselves and others can help reduce conflict. We will explain how conflict affects the children. We will review a list of strategies and then complete an exercise on finding strategies for deescalating situations.
